Program Overview:

In the latest couple of decades, healthcare has been positively impacted by growing number of professionals with roles in medication safety. More recently, hospitals and health systems begun to recognize the value this expert resource brings to their safety arsenal and have made provisions for a dedicated medication safety practitioner. While many of these practitioners report within current pharmacy infrastructures, others have achieved success and interdisciplinary exposure when reporting through alternative Quality, Patient Safety, or Administrative structures.

Join ISMP as we meet two successful medication officers and understand the significant day-to-day impact they make on medication safety issues. Understand how they prioritize medication safety issues, impact change, and address a number of medication-related challenges and controversial issues. Hear firsthand how they manage the event investigation process in order to maximize their learning as well as use information from a variety of external sources to make a significant impact on patient care outcomes. The faculty will also share insider tips on staying abreast of issues and creating a culture of shared learning for medication safety.
